Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program (FFVP)
Free fresh fruits and vegetable offered outside of the Breakfast and Lunch meal service, usually in classroom or hallway, during the school day.
The goals of the program are:
- introduce an assortment of fresh fruits and vegetables
- encourage children to try new fruits & vegetable that they might not otherwise experience
- foster healthier school environments
- promote childhood nutrition education
- increase interest in & consumption of fresh, unprocessed produce
This program is available to Elementary Schools that operate the National School Lunch Program. Schools must have a high percentage of students certified as eligible for free and reduced-price meals to be eligible to apply.
Baltimore County Public Schools has 50 FFVP schools for School Year 2023-2024.
